Ben Slayton, founder and CEO of LEGACY Home Loans (the Nations’ largest Black Led Mortgage Banking firm) established National BLACK Homeownership Month (NBHM), in step with President Biden’s June 2022 Proclamation of establishing  the month of June as “National Homeownership Month.”

Throughout his career, Slayton has committed to assisting the Black community through the United States to become Homeowners. There is a 30 percent gap between Black people and Whites homeowners, meaning only 4 of every 10 Black Families own the home that they live in and that is in contrast to 7 out of every 10 white families who own the home that they live in.

Therefore, it was fitting that since the President had already declared June as National Homeownership Month, that it should also be identified as the “National BLACK Homeownership Month.”
